It is wished you succeeded in enjoy all these things and more. Nevertheless, the showbiz industry doesn't take a break, and this is notably true for the realm of anime. A slew of noteworthy news items emerged over the break, and if you missed any, here is a summary of the biggest bits.

One-Punch Man Season 3 Is Set to Continue (In 2027)

Without a doubt the biggest announcement, the notorious disaster that was the third season of One-Punch Man proved insufficient to deter further production. The show will be back with a follow-up batch of episodes in 2027—a date so remote they easily could have called it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will still be at the helm. On a positive note this time, director Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the beginning, which is seen as a hopeful indicator. Yet, the main art for the second cour is identical to the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This suggests that, by now, they must be mocking the fans.

Ruri Dragon Is Set to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has built a reputation for being an prestigious animation studio, setting itself apart not just for the exceptional quality of its output but for the ethical practices of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had not adapted an anime stemming from a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, possibly the most famous magazine in the industry. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became a huge following when it launched in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the author's health issues. When it resumed publication with a lighter schedule, the series proved it maintained the fans' appreciation and enthusiasm, and now fans are thrilled about the impending KyoAni adaptation.

Kingdom Season 6 Will Get a Sequel Currently in Production

Kingdom is the best-selling, decades-spanning Shueisha manga that is not One Piece. If you've haven't come across it before, it's because it only recently got an English localization, but the anime has been running for years, and its sixth season was a further excellent entry. Apparently that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been revealed as currently being made, and it will probably premiere in 2026.

Science Saru Is Bringing A Witch in Mongolia To Anime

A further studio renowned for the superior craftsmanship of its work, Science Saru has brought us masterpieces of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, more recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, which is based on the actual historical person of Fatima, an influential woman and thinker in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Based on the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and captivating visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Scheduled to launch in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my watchlist.

Tougen Anki Will Continue With a Season Two

Adapted from the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki adapts the manga by Yura Urushibara.
